Frame the product and its service condition.

Structure the brief. Normalize units and conditions. Separate requirements from assumptions. Identify missing owners and inputs. Carry temperature, altitude, ingress, duty cycle, life, volume, and abuse cases into downstream work.

Compare system architectures.

Generate a small option set, identify the main load and thermal paths, propose appropriate material and process families, and state the condition most likely to eliminate each concept.

Check thermal and environmental assumptions.

Evaluate supported air and water properties, thermal resistance paths, transients, convection, radiation, heaters, altitude effects, solar or climate inputs where reviewed data exists, and the implications for sealing or derating.

Challenge materials and interfaces.

Search reviewed grades, retrieve available properties at a stated condition, compare candidates, inspect available curves, and check explicitly reviewed compatibility and process rules. Unsupported grade‑condition pairs return NO DATA.

Check structure, joints, and retention.

Run supported first‑order checks for plates, bosses, snap cantilevers, press fits, preload, drop energy, differential expansion, and fatigue only when the required material or curve data exists.

Review DFM, assembly, sealing, and ingress.

Challenge draft, ribs, bosses, wall transitions, assembly access, retention choice, sealing strategy, and contamination paths using explicit rules and stated process assumptions.

Turn uncertain assumptions into test questions, define useful measurements and pass/fail criteria, and update the engineering argument when new evidence arrives.
